This elegant walnut library table was handmade in Victorian England around 1890. Today, the walnut still looks wonderful, with a rich complexion and a subtle, wispy grain that contrast beautifully with the paneled green leather. The leather does appear to have been replaced some time in the past half-century, although the embossing is no longer as clear as it once was. The leaves operate smoothly and remain quite sturdy, while the turned legs rest on convenient casters. Closed, the table measures 45.75" wide, while it expands to 66" when open. Two drawers, each featuring hand-cut dovetails, provide easily accessible storage space. Although this table does remain sturdy, it has sustained some surface wear, most notably on the two leaves (see pictures). Otherwise, overall condition remains very good.
