This charming pine chest of drawers was handmade in England around 1890. Over the years, the pine has developed a lovely patina, which has helped to develop the wood's rich complexion and distinct grain into the beautiful specimen that it is today. The drawer knobs appear to have been replaced at some point in the past; it is clear, in any case, that they are not original to the chest. Even so, they contrast beautifully with the lighter pine of the rest of the chest, which looks fantastic top to bottom. Each drawer of course features hand-cut dovetails, although the locks no longer function (in the absence of the original key). The turned feet remain quite sturdy, as does the remainder of the chest, which has sustained general surface wear as well as two separations in the wood on the sides. Overall, therefore, condition remains very good, and this antique pine chest would make a fine addition to any collection.
