This beautiful mahogany writing slope was handmade in England around 1890, during the Victorian period. The mahogany, having developed a lovely patina over the years, now displays a remarkably rich complexion and a subtle yet striking grain. The solid brass hardware and blue-green leather writing surface contrast beautifully with the mahogany, as well. The bottom is felt-lined, and inside are several compartments, while the lock operates with an accompanying key. This writing slope has sustained some wear consistent with age, which you can see in the accompanying pictures, although it remains as sturdy as ever. Overall, therefore, this writing slope remains in excellent condition for its age.
