This stylish antique desk, handmade in Victorian England around 1890, embodies the best in English furniture. Not only is this desk incredibly sturdy, but it remains as beautiful today as it was the day it was made. Perhaps, with the development of a lovely patina, this desk has grown to be even more beautiful, with a rich mahogany complexion and grain that makes a striking complement to the green leather writing surface, which is bordered by gold tooling. With a total of nine drawers, each featuring hand-cut dovetails, this desk offers plenty of storage space. Uniquely, even the back of the desktop features hand-cut dovetails, which is a rare feature indicating fine quality. Because this is a pedestal desk, it disassembles quite easily into the two pedestals and desktop. Conveniently, the pedestals also rest on casters for easy movement. The leather and some places in the mahogany have wear consistent with age; the leather itself was replaced some time ago. Particularly, a few corners of the desktop have developed minor flaws in the wood. Overall, this Victorian period desk remains in excellent condition.
