Here we have a marvelous example of a Victorian mahogany Scottish chest of drawers. Characterized by its larger size, drawer configuration, and "column" sides, this dresser is an impressive piece. The rich mahogany has achieved a beautiful patina through its life, sure it impress all who look at it. The brass plate handles (new to the piece) provide a wonderful and subtle contrast with the flame mahogany. The top row of drawers (going from left to right) consists of two small drawers, a large "hat box" drawer, and a large drawer that appears to be 2 small drawers. The three large drawers beneath are spacious and could store a variety of clothing or other items. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetail joints and they all open and close very smoothly. This chest was made around 1890 and is in excellent condition. Aside from two small cosmetic age splits on the right side, there is very little wear present on the chest at all.
