This extremely well made bureau came from England. It was made by Jaycee Furniture back in 1964. Jaycee is a furniture company that is still around today creating hand crafted English furniture. This piece has their quality inspection sticker still stuck to the back, dating the inspection of this piece on April 21, 1964. This bureau (sometimes also called a butlers desk) has survived the years in very good condition. The beautiful oak is decorated with carved linenfolds, or scrolls as some call it. The handles are wooden carved in the shape of acorns. The drawers are dovetailed and the sides are paneled, both signs of high quality craftsmanship. This bureau is in great shape with only minor wear throughout, less than you would expect from a piece of this age.
