This antique cathedral mahogany chest of drawers was hand-crafted in Victorian England around 1860. A third-generation cabinetmaker recently treated the chest to a fine hand-rubbed polish in addition to replacing the top and pulls. The result is a remarkably beautiful chest of drawers that remains as sturdy as ever, and with a new polish and a lovely patina, the mahogany displays a deep, lustrous complexion and a striking grain that are sure to look great in any setting. The brass hardware contrasts wonderfully with the mahogany, while the carved bun feet are as sturdy as they are elegant. Each drawer of course features hand-cut dovetails, and although they all operate smoothly, the locks no longer function. There is also an assortment of minor nicks and wear marks, although the level of superficial wear that this chest has endured is exceptionally minuscule, which is one of many indicators that this exquisite chest is a unique, museum-quality piece.
