This Georgian period chest was made in England around 1820. The mahogany has aged beautifully and developed a patina that cannot be duplicated except by age. The brass, Hepplewhite plate back pulls contrast the wood nicely. The drawers have hand cut dovetails and the back is hand bevelled. The bracket feet are sturdy. Overall this chest is in great condition, but does show signs of its age. There are wear marks in the forms of scratches and dings throughout the piece. There is missing beading on the two long drawers, the left side has an age split about halfway down it. See the pictures for more details. These wear marks add to the character of the piece.
