This gorgeous antique walnut mirror was English-made in 1920. Today, the walnut remains as beautiful as ever, with a rich patina, a lustrous complexion and a distinct grain. Carvings adorning the sides, crest and base complement the walnut beautifully, providing not only an aesthetic appeal in themselves but also a darker contrast with the lighter wood around them. Uniquely, the very bottom carving displays the date of construction, which is why we are able to determine that this mirror was made in 1920 (as opposed to circa). The mirror, of course, is beveled, and although it mostly remains in very good condition for its age, it has sustained some minor spotting, which is to be expected of a mirror with so many years behind it. The finials, which look quite elegant, remain sturdy and firmly attached to the mirror, attesting to the fine quality and careful maintenance of this mirror. Structurally, this piece is quite strong and heavy, and as you can see by the solid wood, boarded construction on the back, the maker of this mirror took no precautions. Given this and the excellently maintained cosmetic form, overall condition remains excellent.
