This gorgeous antique roll top desk was handmade in England around 1920. As a roll top desk, this is certainly a fine specimen, even among other antiques, since it not only retains an incredible level of beauty and sturdiness but also its original functionality. That is, when you close the rolling top, all of the drawers in the desk lock. When you raise it, they unlock again. This roll top desk also contains a great deal of storage space, including a file drawer and a variety of compartments in the interior of the desk. An age split has developed in the desktop; age splits are naturally occurring phenomena that eventually occur in all solid wood furniture. This antique desk remains in excellent condition, structurally and cosmetically. The roll top used to lock in place when shut, but there is no key and the lock does not appear to function. Also, this desk will disassemble for shipping and easy movement; it is simple to put together, as desk section sits on top of the two pedestals, which are then screwed into the desktop, while the two support bars have convenient pegs that are inserted into the sides of each pedestal.
