This large, stunning grandfather clock was made in England around 1850. The mahogany case has developed a wonderful, rich patina and is an impressive size. The painted dial has a moon phase on it. Moon phases were made popular during the 18th century because a traveler could easily tell by the clock when the moon would be at its fullest, thus when there would be more light to travel with at night. The movement is an eight day movement. The chimes ring on the hour only and strike the number of hours. The clock is currently running and keeping perfect time in our shop. We recommend you have a clock professional set the clock up for you when it arrives to ensure proper running. The mahogany case is very sturdy and does have a few cosmetic issues. There are two small age splits on the left side (see pictures). The hood door has some minor chips to the bottom of it and some minor crackling around the top. We do not have a key for the case, but we do have the crank for the clock. These cosmetic issues do not affect the clock and are a product of age. Overall the condition of this clock is very good.
