This beautiful antique English bookcase was hand-crafted in Edwardian England around 1910. Over the years, the mahogany has developed a lovely patina, which enhances the distinct grain and rich complexion of the wood. The solid brass hardware contrasts beautifully with the mahogany, while astragal glass moulding forms the elegant structure of the upper bookcase doors. Both drawers feature hand-cut dovetails, while the bookshelves are fully adjustable by means of an alligator bracket system. The finish on the upper-right corner of the moulding has worn away, and there are a few stress marks here and there, while one of the sides has developed what is known as an age split, which is a natural separation between the boards that occurs in all solid wood furniture as a result of age; age splits are purely cosmetic phenomena and do not affect structural integrity. This antique English bookcase also separates for shipping and easy movement, so there is no need to worry about how to move it around. It is important to note that the top should be screwed into the base for added stability; the necessary screws will accompany this bookcase, and the holes have already been drilled. Overall, the condition of this mahogany bookcase is very good, as it remains as sturdy as ever.
