We found this eye-catching Belgium buffet on a recent trip to Holland. It is made with a beautiful mahogany that has developed a wonderful patina since its creation around 1890. The back-splash of this server has two beveled glass mirrors. These mirrors do contain minor spotting but are otherwise quite attractive. Also found on the back-splash is a small shelf and various hand carvings that give detail and dimension to the otherwise simple sideboard. The two drawers open and close easily and are constructed with hand cut dovetails. The serving surface has a small age split which is a naturally occurring phenomenon in solid wood pieces and is cosmetic only. Also on the serving surface the front right corner has some discoloration to it. The drawers and cabinet doors do contain locks however there is no key. You will notice that the bottom of the inside of the cabinet has deteriorated over time and been covered recently with plywood. This is not nailed or attached to the piece in anyway so can easily be removed and something else used in its place. There is some veneer missing from the bottom as shown in the picture of the foot. These issues are only cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. This buffet is quite sturdy and strong. There are two labels on the back that we have included pictures of which may be from one of the original owners and uses the town name of Blankenberge. This is a beautiful and functional server that would look stunning in a variety of settings, don't miss out!
