This charming country pine chest was hand-crafted in Georgian England around 1820. Today, the pine remains as beautiful as ever, with a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that have grown more lovely over the years with the development of a patina. The brass hardware, which was recently replaced, also contrasts beautifully with the pine. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails; uniquely, so do the sides. Many of the drawers are also divided for convenient storage. Although this chest has sustained a variety of small wear marks and stains, they only contribute to the considerable character of this piece, which remains quite sturdy. Still, one of the sides has developed a superficial separation in the wood, which is simply part of the aging process. Overall condition is therefore very good.
