Antique Victorian Marble Washstand

This beautiful antique walnut washstand was hand-crafted in Victorian England around 1890. Over the years, the walnut has acquired a lovely patina that enriches its beautiful grain and complexion. Especially striking in this washstand are the tile backsplash and gorgeous marble counter, which form a beautiful contrast with the wood and solid-brass hardware. This antique washstand features lovely ornamentation, including the paneling on the lower cabinet doors and a carved crest that speaks of attentive, quality craftsmanship. In addition to convenient counter space, this antique washstand also offers a generous amount of storage space in its lower cabinets, so like most antique English furniture, this washstand offers a charming combination of beauty and functionality. Unfortunately, however, the casters do not retain a great deal of mobility. While the washstand has sustained some wear--manifested most notably in minute marks on the marble as well as cracks in the crest and iin one of the shelves--it remains in remarkably excellent condition, both cosmetically and structurally, especially given that this piece is over a century old! The marble is not secured to the wooden base but sits firmly upon it by virtue of its weight, and the two sections will detach for shipping. This antique Victorian walnut washstand will continue to function wonderfully for generations to come, growing more beautiful all the while, so it would make a fine addition to any home furniture collection!
