Antique Victorian Mahogany Bowfront Chest

Here we have an antique Victorian mahogany bow front chest made in England around 1890 that is just oozing antique charm and character. This bow front chest is a classic two over three drawer design with lovely turned columns that add a certain elegance to the chest that more plain bow fronts lack. While structurally sound, this chest has an abundance of "distressing" which some people will like while others will not. The entire piece is covered with dings and stains. The cock beading around the drawers has dents in various places and there is a small age separation in the right side. The top, like the rest of the chest, has stains, dings, and a small split on the left side (pictured). There are functioning locks but no key. The drawers slide easily in and out and are joined with hand cut dovetails, a sign of high quality craftsmanship. Each drawer features brass plate back pulls that are recent additions to the piece but contrast the mahogany wonderfully and really add to the chest.
