Made around 1890, this mahogany Scottish chest of drawers is an impressive and beautiful piece of furniture. With seven spacious drawers, all constructed with hand cut dovetails, this dresser boasts an impressive amount of storage space. The drawers are adorned with Victorian style turned wooden drawer pulls that blend very nicely with the mahogany of the drawer fronts. There are two beautiful turned columns going up the sides of the chest giving that true Scottish look to the piece. The top middle drawer does not have a handle and the lock does not function, however, we do have a key that can be inserted into the keyhole to open the drawer. This chest sits on four turned feet. The feet are not glued to the chest, so they do come off to make transporting safer and easier. There are several cosmetic issues with this chest that should be pointed out. The right side of the chest has an oak veneer as opposed to a mahogany one. There are several age splits to the thick top, a normal phenomenon that occurs with age on solid wood pieces. There are also quite a few small chips along the bottom of the chest as you can see in the pictures. Finally there is a spot on the left side where a sticker removed some finish. Despite these cosmetic issues the chest has an overall beautiful and eye-catching look that is sure to dress up any room you place it in.
