Stunning is the best word I can think of to describe the display of craftsmanship in this oyster chest. Using a chest from around 1890, a cabinetmaker in England has recently hand-cut and inlaid many different pieces of olive wood to create what the English refer to as an "oyster" pattern. The result is simple amazing as you can see. He has hand rubbed a several stage finish to the olive wood ensuring it will remain beautiful for generations. The quality of this work is so complete he has even inlaid the sides and feet with olive wood, which is very hard to find in an oyster piece. (usually only the top and drawer fronts are done) The drawers have hand-cut dovetails, and the pierced brass pulls are a wonderful complement to the olive wood. This chest would make an eye-catching statement in any room or office.
