Rare and stunningly beautiful, this antique flame mahogany sideboard was hand-crafted in England around 1810, during the Regency Period. In keeping with classic Regency period design, this sideboard was crafted with a series of large, bold features that have helped not only to make it a beautiful specimen of English craftsmanship, but also a strong and enduring furniture piece. For example, the wood used in this sideboard is incredibly thick (note the large legs), and of course all of it is solid. The flame mahogany, which has developed a lovely patina, displays an incredibly rich grain and complexion, in part as a result of the recent hand-restoration that was performed by a third-generation English cabinetmaker. The solid-brass hardware, which contrasts beautifully with the mahogany and satinwood inlays, is not all original, as the upper pulls were replaced long ago; originally, they all would have looked like the bottom two pulls. None of the locks function, either, and there is a small, repaired crack in one of the drawer fronts, but otherwise the condition of this Regency sideboard remains excellent, which is remarkable in light of its great age. Because of this pristine level of quality, this Regency flame mahogany sideboard would make a valuable addition to any home or museum furniture collection!
