This mahogany pedestal desk was crafted in England around 1960. Recently, the desk was restored by a traditional cabinetmaker, who replaced the leather writing surface and added a new, fine coat of hand-rubbed wax. The brass hardware, mahogany, and red leather contrast beautifully with one another, making this desk quite a lovely piece. With a total of eight drawers, this desk also features plenty of storage space, while each drawer features dovetailed joints. The bottom left drawer is a file drawer, but because of its small width, files must be hung sideways; a file rack is not currently installed. Because this piece is a pedestal desk, it comes apart into the top and two pedestals, which makes movement quite easy. Although this desk remains very sturdy, it has sustained some general light surface wear, including various scuffs and a few white spots on the finish. Overall, however, this desk remains very beautiful, so condition is very good.
