During the rather short reign of King Edward VII, a distinct style of furniture making became popular. The Edwardian period was exemplified with beautiful mahogany accented by satinwood inlays and bandings. This bureau bookcase is a wonderful example of a high quality Edwardian period piece. Made perhaps around 1910 in England the mahogany displays a wonderful patina that will continue to enrich as time passes. The fall of the bureau is decorated with a gorgeous inlaid shell. The quaint size of this piece makes it perfect to fit almost anywhere. The three shelves in the astragal glazed glass top are adjustable and removable. The condition of this bureau is good with a few areas of note. The moulding on the top doors as repaired right by the keyhole. The inside of the fall has a cosmetic crack to it, and the piece has the normal wear you would expect from an antique of this age throughout. The top doors and the fall lock with included key. The top bookcase section does separate for easier moving and shipping.
