This charming English oak barrel was hand-crafted around 1900 and recently imported to our antique furniture store here in Atlanta, GA, USA. The quartersawn oak, which has developed a lovely patina over the past century, displays an incredibly rich complexion as well as the striking grain for which this variety of oak is widely prized. The solid brass bindings around the barrel contrast beautifully with the oak, as well, making this barrel a beautiful sight to behold. This barrel has developed some age splits, which occur in all solid wood furniture, but which appear to be more pronounced in this piece because of the obviously necessary bends in the boards. There is also a significant amount of surface wear, which you can see in the attached pictures. This English oak barrel would make a great accent piece, perhaps as a place to store your umbrellas, so take this chance to make it a part of your home today!
