This lovely antique bureau bookcase was crafted in Edwardian England around 1910. The wood is a rich mahogany, with a lovely patina and a pleasing grain that are sure to look great in any setting. Solid brass pulls contrast beautifully with the wood, while the astragal glass bookcase doors also look rather elegant. A series of satinwood string inlays and rosewood banding adorn the moulding, fall, and drawer fronts. With a locking bookcase containing three shelves, a desk with several compartments, and three large drawers, this bureau bookcase contains plenty of storage space. Each drawer of features hand-cut dovetails, which were usually machine-cut during the Edwardian period, so this is a particularly well-crafted piece. However, it has sustained some significant wear, including some wear marks on the moulding, a variety of small scuffs on the feet and bureau fall, and two wood separations that are beginning to develop on the left side and on the fall. These separations are natural, cosmetic developments in the wood and don't effect structural integrity. Otherwise, this piece is quite sturdy and remains in very good overall condition.
