This very unusual oak bureau bookcase was crafted in England around 1950, and recently imported to our store here in Atlanta, GA. The oak looks great and has begun to develop a lovely patina. This is a highly desirable feature of antique furniture and impossible to recreate on a new piece. If it is taken care of properly, this oak bureau bookcase will continue to grow more beautiful as time passes. The top section is a leaded glass bookcase with two shelves. The glass doors to the bookcase have a working lock and key, although the door can still be pulled open when it is locked. The slant front of the bureau boasts a beautifully detailed carving. This section folds down (automatically causing the supports to slide out and hold it) to reveal a writing surface, several compartments, and two small drawers. This area can be locked as well. Below this area are the main drawers, each of which has dovetailed drawer joints and solid brass swan neck style pulls. The feet of this bureau are bracket style and are very sturdy. Also, the bookcase section is removable from the bureau for easy movement. The condition of this piece is very good, as the only damage to it is a very small scratch on one of the lower drawers, which is very easily fixable. This is a lovely bureau bookcase and would make an excellent addition to any home. Don't miss your opportunity to bid on it today!
