This large, solid oak bookcase cabinet was made in Holland around 1950 and is quite an impressive cabinet. The heavy, oak paneled doors lock with a large European key. Inside are three stationary shelves that are strong and would be able to support a heavy row of books or other items. There are two drawers on the bottom of the piece for additional storage. The front feet are a large bun foot which is very common in Dutch furniture. The solid oak side and back panels are beveled a sign of the attention to detail the maker put into this piece. A large moulded cornice finishes the top of the bookcase off perfectly. Perhaps the most attractive part of the cabinet are the three carved decorations that run vertically on the front and the three lion heads at the bottom. These floral motif decorations are quite eye-catching, but not gaudy. This cabinet is in very good condition with almost no wear. The top left back panel does have a gap on the side as you can see in the photos. Otherwise this cabinet is very sturdy and would make a wonderful addition to any home. The shelves have an interior depth of 16.5".
