Antique Dutch Mahogany Roll Top Desk

This gorgeous antique roll top desk was hand-crafted in the Netherlands around 1860. Over the decades, the mahogany has come to develop quite a lovely patina, with the result that the wood now displays a deep, lustrous complexion and a pronounced grain. A fine series of finials adorns the top, while the writing surface is inlaid with fine, red leather. Conveniently, the desk top even pulls out when the top is up, providing extra work space when needed. Included are keys to lock all drawers except the lower left drawer. The roll top continues to function quite smoothly, the turned legs remain as sturdy as they are elegant, and each drawer features dovetailed joints. However, this desk has sustained some minor superficial wear, including some paint stains, wear to the leather, and various scuffs. Such wear is nevertheless minimal, so overall condition is very good.
