This antique mahogany chest of drawers was hand-crafted in England around 1820 during the Georgian period and recently imported to our antique furniture store here in Atlanta, GA. The mahogany, having developed a lovely patina over the past two centuries, now displays a striking complexion and grain that are sure to make a bold impression in any setting. The solid brass swan neck drop pulls also contrast beautifully with the mahogany, while the traditional, straight chest design makes quite an appearance. Indeed, this two-hundred-year-old antique chest of drawers is quite emblematic of the elegant sobriety of taste that characterized Georgian period furniture. True to the quality that its appearance promises, this Georgian chest is also as strong as the day it was made, which is why it has survived so long. This Georgian chest has sustained surface wear consistent with age, mainly in the form of small stress marks and chips here and there (see pictures). Also, there are several repairs that were obviously performed a very long time ago. This Georgian chest also provides plenty of storage space, with a classic two-over-three drawer design; each drawer features hand-cut dovetailed joints. The perfect combination utility and English-made beauty, this Georgian mahogany chest of drawers would make a fantastic addition to any home!
